5 tanks of gas = 1 bike
"And they're cheap too. Five tanks
of gas equal one bike suitable for
commuting."
Let's see . . . 5 tanks @ 20 gallons
per tank x $3.25 per gallon = $325.

Bike Safety
Some may say that not stopping at a stop sign is safer than stopping for bicyclists. There are times it is and times when it isn't. I like the idea of having more bike lanes and access to move ahead of cars that want to turn and buses breathing down your neck and honking at you. I don't know how many times I've seen MUNI buses honking at cyclists and running them off the road onto the (gasp!) sidewalk. At the light, I don't mind stopping. Honk at me all you want. I'll be using the stops as an opportunity to practice my bike yoga! I don't understand the big hurry that some people are in to get where they are going. It is not a time-trial, and not worth the risk.
Mary Beth Kelly

Public Education is too valuable to throw away

alamedaeducationfoundation.org
Because of budget cuts, public schools in California are losing teachers, and valuable programs like music and sports. They are taking matters into their own hands and trying to raise the funds they need. Did you ever think you'd have to see kids in America panhandling on the streets so they can get a proper education?

Bike-to-School
The weather is nice, and suddenly all the bicycles have come out of the woodwork. As bicycle ridership amongst youth increases, so does the need for bike racks at local schools.
